Procedure Overview
Your skin is first cleansed. A topical anesthetic is applied to the treatment area about 1 hour before treatment for your comfort. During treatment, the Fraxel Dual emits laser energy in precise, microscopic columns that penetrate deep into the skin, vaporizing irregularities and stimulating collagen production. Since each pinpoint column is surrounded by healthy tissue, the treatment is gentler and healing is faster. You will feel some heat, but cool air may be applied to increase comfort. Treating a full face usually takes fewer than 30 minutes.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can the Fraxel Dual 1550/1927 treat?
The Fraxel Dual 1550/1927 system has received FDA clearance for the following treatments:
- Lines and wrinkles such as forehead lines and crow’s feet
- Scarring from surgery, acne and other surface scarring
- Age spots and sun damage
- Actinic keratosis (precancerous skin condition)
- Melasma (uneven dark patches on the face)
- Skin resurfacing
How long do Fraxel Dual 1550/1927 results last?
The longevity of results depends on the condition of your skin and how you care for your skin after treatment. Following treatment, avoid direct sun exposure for a minimum of 3 months. Protect your skin with at least SPF 30 sunscreen and things like hats or long sleeves.
What can I expect following a Fraxel Dual 1550/1927 treatment?
Your skin may feel tender and appear pink or red. Any post-treatment sensitivity usually resolves in 1 to 3 hours. The redness usually last about 24 hours, followed by a darkening (like a tan) over 1 to 2 weeks. The skin will eventually peel, revealing your new, healthier, more youthful skin. You can use makeup and moisturizers as needed throughout the healing process. We will provide aftercare instructions for your specific needs.
